INVISIBLE IMPRINTS

Invisible Imprints is an installation that transforms the landscape into a living code. Through eight translucent vertical panels, painted according to the exact sequence of the COX1 gene—a universal marker of life widely used to identify species—Nathalie invites us to reflect on the biological identity we share with all the species inhabiting this territory.
Each panel represents the DNA of a species found in Andorra, including humans, together forming a collective portrait of local biodiversity. Minimal and evocative, the forms recall barcodes through their linear structure and unfold in four colours, each corresponding to one of the four DNA bases. In doing so, they create a visual poetry that reveals what usually remains invisible: the silent connections that bind us together.
The reference to barcodes carries a double meaning. On the one hand, it evokes biological barcoding, a method used to identify species through the COX1 gene; on the other, it invites us to question our tendency to consume nature as though it were a product, too often reduced to landscape, backdrop, or resource.
Luminous and chromatic, the installation’s aesthetic is both precise and subtle. It integrates respectfully into the landscape, creating a pause along the way—a space for contemplation. The work translates scientific language into a symbolic vocabulary, making visible the essential connections between life, memory, and ecological responsibility.
Empreintes Invisibles fully embraces the guiding theme of L’ANDART 25, Pause to Continue: an invitation to stop, reconnect with our shared origins, and reconsider the future we are building together.
