Artefact — Charcoal and acrylic on canvas, 80 × 80 cm, 2024
Artefact explores how subtle visual disruptions can profoundly alter perception and meaning. The image is fragmented through colour filters and then reassembled with a slight displacement, creating an ambiguous visual field in which error can appear logical. The work highlights the human tendency to seek meaning, interpret, and reconstruct—even when faced with inaccurate or misleading information.
This inherent subjectivity, though natural, can become a trap, particularly for scientists or anyone in pursuit of truth. Artefact draws attention to the fragile boundary between what we see and what we believe we see.
